About me
After graduate school coursework at the University of Louisville, Dr. Azar completed a one-year pre-doctoral internship in clinical geropsychology at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. As part of his clinical training, he conducted neuropsychological evaluations on an acute care rehab unit with active duty soldiers with TBI, as well as older adults with a range of neurologic concerns (i.e., stroke, brain tumor). Further, as a member of the Geriatric Memory Assessment clinic team, Dr. Azar was responsible for completing brief neuropsychological assessments with older veterans presenting with cognitive complaints (in addition to significant medical problems). Upon completion of internship, he then received postdoctoral fellowship training at the VA Boston Healthcare System. As a geropsychology fellow, Dr. Azar not only carried a regular psychotherapy caseload, but also completed neuropsychological evaluations with older veterans through the VA’s outpatient neuropsychology service and a specialty geriatric clinic. In addition to evaluating current neurocognitive status, assessments included comprehensive recommendations individually formulated to address the ways in which any cognitive impairment impacts one’s daily life and functional status. This practice of emphasizing individualized treatment recommendations has continued at Metrowest Neuropsychology.Dr. Azar is licensed to practice psychology in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
He has been involved with Metrowest Neuropsychology for over one year. He is excited to continue as part of the Metrowest Team, providing neuropsychological evaluations and counseling to adults with TBI and other neurologic conditions.
